INSTALLATION

Installing GPL 1969 mod:

First, if you do not have them already, we recommend you install these addon tracks

Montjuich Park ( 1969 Spanish GP )
Clermont-Ferrand ( 1969 French GP
Brands Hatch ( 1969 Race of Champions )
Oulton Park ( 1969 Gold Cup )

IMPORTANT !
For users that have Part 1 or 2 of the 1969 mod installed it is IMPORTANT to remove these files from your gpl installation BEFORE running the installer.

Remove from GPL/Mods/Gem+ folder:  gpl69 folder

Remove from GPL/cars folder:  69Hwng and 69Lwng carset folders.

1/ Run the 1969mod installer.
Check the install path. The default install path is C:\Sierra\GPL. IF YOUR GPL INSTALL HAS A DIFFERENT PATH YOU MUST CHANGE THE PATH WHEN PROMPTED.

2/ Create a player in GPL ( or use your existing 69mod player )

3/ Start GEM+ 2.4.64,
Click CARSETS and make 1969 Grand Prix ACTIVE, then make sure your 69mod player is using 1969 Grand Prix.

Physics:
The physics now have a more realistic slipstreaming effect. This is most noticable on long straights such as at Monza

The Cars:
The 69mod contains 3 complete carsets plus car options. To change carsets select 69Hwng, 69Lwng or 69Mwng in GEM+

69Hwng represents the 1969 cars from the early part of 1969 with high mounted wings.
69Lwng represents the 1969 cars from the later part of 1969 with lower mounted wings.
69Mwng represents the 1969 cars from the Monaco and Monza GPs where some teams demounted wings. You should use " No Wing " setting from the car setup screen for these cars.

Each carset contains car options which have to switched manually.
You can check which car you want to use by looking at the GEMPIC in each car folder.
To switch cars eg. 69Hwng, Mclaren M7a for Mclaren M7b ( default ). Delete the eagle folder from the carset, copy the eagle folder from the Mclaren M7a folder into the carset folder.
To switch back to the Mclaren M7b, delete the eagle folder from the carset folder, copy the eagle folder from the Mclaren M7b folder into the carset folder.

Frame rate increase options:
Every car folder has 3 sub folder which can be used to improve frame rate. You can use some or all of these to improve frame rate.
1/ Low-res:- Copy the low resolution files into the car folder.
2/ 2D wheels:- Copy the 2D wheel files into the car folder.
3/ 2D Helmets:- Copy the 2d helmet files into the car folder.

Other features:
1/ Best laps screen
The Best laps screen has been modified to show the 1969 World Championship tracks, the lap times from these tracks will be stored in your players/player name/"plac69.ini"

2/ 1969 World Championship
When using World Championship mode you now have the correct tracks for the 1969 World Championship.

3/ Newspapers
The newspapers at the end of a race have been modified to show the correct team names and a picture from 1969.
For the Championship tracks we have included individual pictures that are installed with the mod. For other tracks a generic 1969 picture is used.
To add other 1969 pictures to other tracks add a bwpic69.pbf to the track folder.

4/ Program covers
Program covers are now mod specific. The programs for the 1969 Championship tracks plus Brands race of Champions ( Brands67 ) and Oulton Park Gold Cup are installed with the mod.
These will only be shown only when using 1969mod.
To add 1969 mod specific program covers to other tracks, add a pageo69.pbf to the track folder.

5/ Track Records
Fastest laps for every track are now mod specific. New record inis ( rec69.ini ) are installed with the mod for the 1969 Championship tracks. These only record lap times for 1969mod so leaving your 67 lap times untouched.
A new record ini ( rec69.ini ) is created when you use other tracks with 69mod.

6/ Mod specific track inis and lp files
It is now possible to use mod specific track inis ( track69.ini ) and lp files ( l69 ) The track inis can be used to adjust the ai performance where needed without changing 67 etc. The lps can be used to create 69mod lp laps without effecting your originals. Some track69.inis and lps are installed with the mod. You can create your own for other tracks.
track.ini = track69.ini.
lp = l69

7/ Mod specific track graphics
Users can now create track graphics specifically for the 1969 season using one track folder.
An example of this is installed with the mod for Brands67. The makers of Brands67 included an option for adding the Lucas building at Paddock and the Dunlop bridge before Druids which were added to the track in 1968. These are now only seen using 1969mod but not seen if using 67 GPL.

To use your own 3do, mips, srb or trk for extra track graphics that are specific to 1969, rename the file extensions to:
3DO = 369
mip = m69
srb = s69
trk = t69
Place your 1969 specific graphics into the track, these will only be seen using 69mod.

8/ Default setups
The default car setups are specific to 69mod so giving the user a basic usable setup to start with.
The default setups for the Championship tracks are by Steve Cloyd. For other tracks there is a 69mod generic default setup.

9/ AI Improvements
The AI now select wings suitable for tracks and also use the slipstreaming effect.
The passing of backmarkers has also been improved.
These new features combine to increase the fun and excitement when racing the AI.

1/ More tracks feature ( 1024 tracks ) same as 66 mod.

2/ Best Laps screen shows all lap times for any track you have installed and raced on.

3/ AI improvements

4/ Enabling use of long tracks so that you can run Targa, IoM etc. when the they are released.

5/ Revised collision detection

NOTE 1
Before installing this patch you should already have a complete working version of 69mod.

NOTE 2
You may lose previously recorded lap times from your 69 player.ini .
To overcome this, make a backup of your 69 player.ini and paste in the lap times after installing the patch and rebuilding gplc69.exe.

NOTE 3
If you wish to be able to go back to original/unpatched 69 easily, make a backup of your layout and mods folders and drv69w.ini
then store them somewhere. When/if you want to go back to unpatched 69 just reinstate the backed up folders and files and rebuild the 69 exe.

NOTE TO BETA TESTERS
If you have previous versions of the 69 patch installed you should remove the gpl69 folder from gpl/mods/gem+ before installing this version.
